Here at The People Picture Company we know that capturing the most genuine moments means stepping outside your role as a photographer and becoming part of the family. We love meeting new people and learning where they’ve been and where they are headed. Whether it be a wedding or family session, each and every one of us builds a relationship that will turn a client into a life-long friend.
These are a few of our moments that we spend not behind a camera but instead interacting with the people around us. Each one of these photos has it's own unique story and that is something that we will cherish for a long time.Read More
Bri at The People Picture Co. has been working with the YWCA summer camps for young women since 2015. This year she and the YWCA decided to do something a little different than in the past. Bri developed a small lesson and discussion for the young women enrolled in this year's Activist Academy to think about how photography plays a role in social change. Using their interests and knowledge of social media, the ladies discussed how they could create their own activism through photography and citizen journalism (self-publishing) online. Bri talked about her own experience with her Go Boldly Campaign and Veronica Kirin showcased her own project and spoke with the girls from her own experience.
After the discussion, they all walked over to The People Picture Company's studio and took a photograph of themselves and then went to photograph their own photojournalism along Division street. Take a look at the day below. Bri and Veronica had a great time with these young, empowered women!Read More
From the preparation to the reception and everything in between, Jennifer & Noah showed their timeless love for one another. What set Jennifer and Noah's wedding apart from any others we've photographed was her choice of a flowy, red wedding dress. It was one of the most remarkable dresses we've ever seen.

Kelly and Michael's wedding day was on July 1, 2017 at The Blue Dress Barn. It was the perfect setting for them since they had come from 115 degree heat in Arizona, so Michigan's 90 degree weather was a relief to them! They met in grad school and their family and friends attending the wedding ranged from all walks of life. For instance, Bri, who photographed their wedding went to high school with Kelly! So it was an honor to photograph her big day. Take a look below at the beautiful barn wedding day.Read More

The story of Bethany and Mike proves that timing is everything. Although they both attended Michigan State University, and lived in the same building, they didn't meet each other while at school. Mike moved out of state, then back to Michigan, and it was a normal day after work when they met, and found out that they lived in the same building (again)! The rest, as they say, is history.Read More
Dogs are just as much part of the family as any other member. We are there for them, we feed and water them, and they love us unconditionally.
Every now and then we have the luxury of photographing people and their dogs during a session and we absolutely love this! We get to see how the dogs interact with their human companions and this allows us to capture the more candid moments within the family.
Whether it is an engagement session, a family session, or even a newborn session, we are always open to welcoming all adorable family pets, plus they always think it is about them and that is what makes it so much fun!Read More
Emily and Eric are a complimentary couple with a wonderful sense of humor and fun. For their engagement session, we started at Riverside Park with their adorable pup, Ellie. Then, because it was a hot 90 degree day, we finished up at The Sovengard's Biergarten with a beer, where Eric tried to convince Emily to "trash her dress" after their wedding this August. We don't know if he's going to win this one, but we're looking forward to their wedding either way!Read More
Keith and Jamie woke up early with Autumn and Bri to have their engagement session on the beach before the temperature and sun made everything too hot. It was absolutely beautiful on the beach and Jamie and Keith were so sweet together. Kirk Park was the beach we went to and they live only 5 minutes away. They walk there a lot and sometimes even bring their dog, Rascal, to the park of the beach that allows dogs. After the beach, we went to their home and took photos with Rascal, who is 10 years old, but acts like a puppy. He loved playing outside.Read More

Jess is expecting her second child in August and wanted photos of her baby bump with her family - so we packed up and had an evening in the gardens of Aquinas College.
We started their session with Jaden reading one of his favorite children's books to his sibling and he showed us how he listens and feel it move! Then we captured a couple photos of the whole family, their 1 year old dog, Riley, included.Read More

A wedding reception is a unique time for the gathered family, because for once, everybody is together, dressed up, all in one place. It’s the perfect time to photograph kids, aunts, every different kind of family unit. It’s a rare time to make pictures with college friends from out of state, and old friends from grade school, and not all just with the bride and groom. Bigger than a photo booth, since more than 2-4 people can be photographed at once, with no feather boas or funny hats, our portrait areas create pictures for the wall, not the refrigerator.Read More
